〈かたちには理由がある〉

「MUSUBIー縁のかたちー」

良い意味で「デザインは妥協だ」（本文から引用）と言う言葉が印象的だった。 著者はかたちには理由があることを事例で紹介している。長い間インハウスデザイナーであった私には現場でのリアルなやりとりが蘇るほど共感できる話だった。作品「MUSUBI―縁のかたち―」は、あえてかたちを決める諸条件を抜きに言葉から連想する自分自身の感性と手の動きを重視し無作為に、瞬時に造形化したものである。もちろん素材を活かそうとする作為はあるものの…。

The phrase “design is about compromise” (quoted from the text) left a strong impression on me in a positive way. The author introduces examples to illustrate that every form has a reason. Having been an in-house designer for many years, I could deeply relate to these stories, as they brought back memories of real-life interactions in the field.

The work MUSUBI – The Shape of Connection was created by deliberately setting aside the conditions that typically define form, instead prioritizing my own sensibility and the movement of my hands as inspired by the word itself. While there is, of course, an intentional effort to make the most of the material, the process remains largely spontaneous and instantaneous in its shaping.
