「Oasis of the night」

遭難し死の恐怖に苛まれながらも、夜の砂漠の美しさに心を奪われるという本作の一節をモチーフに制作した。外側は砂丘の形状を、内側はどこかにある水をたたえるオアシスをイメージしている。戦火の中、サン・テグジュペリは人間と大地の尊厳が損なわれる事態にたち人間として立ち向かおうとした。サン・テグジュペリの砂漠での遭難経験を舞台にしたかろやかな哲学と、彼の思いをイメージし、制作した。

The motif of this work is based on a passage in the book, in which the beauty of the desert at night captivates the heart of a man who is in distress and in fear of death. The outside of the object is inspired by the shape of sand dunes, while the inside is inspired by a water-filled oasis somewhere in the middle of the desert. In the midst of war, Saint Exupéry tried to stand up as a human being against the undermining of human dignity and the dignity of the land. We created this work with the image of Saint-Exupéry's philosophy and his thoughts in mind, which are set in the desert where he was stranded.
