- This is a story of a closed “alley” in Kishu, where the deep forests of Kumano and the coast hit by the Kuroshio Current collide. In Kenji Nakagami's novels, there is an inescapable family and the instincts and wildness of human which have continued since ancient times, waft through the air. The smell of blood like iron, damp earth, and human like animals. And then there are the overwhelming beautiful scenes of nature. It taught me, as a teenager, that the world does not consist only of beautiful things.
