「My angel, flung out of space」

同性愛者に対する弾圧のある最中、1952年に出版された女性同士の恋愛物語。元々映画版に惚れ込んでおり、今回原作を読んだ。キャロルとテレーズ2人のやり取りは不安や緊張のなかにときめく言葉が散らばっている。その中でも｢私の天使。どこからともなく降ってあらわれた。｣(本文から引用)と、キャロルがテレーズのことを天使に例えるセリフが印象的である。

A love story between two women published in 1952 during a time of oppression against homosexuals. I originally fell in love with the film version and recently read the original. The interactions between Carol and Therese are filled with words that flutter with excitement amidst anxiety and tension. Among them, the lines, “My angel.Flung out of space". (quoted from the text) were particularly striking, where Carol compares Thérèse to an angel.
