An elderly woman, who has lost her memories due to Alzheimer's disease, lives in a convalescent home. An elderly man named Duke visits her frequently, reading a story to her. It is a story of a love affair that begins in the summer of 1940 in a small Southern town, marked by social differences, and a lifelong, passionate love. The work imagines the final miracle of love unchanged for 60 years, in the face of inevitable fates like aging and illness.
