「にゃーお」

ふわふわの手でちょんちょんと触れて「にゃーお」。私の実家には、お転婆で構われたがりの猫とビビりで賢い猫がいる。 普段は気ままでも、何かを「伝えよう」とする時のまっすぐ意思のこもった目が印象的で、猫の視点で描かれる『通い猫アルフィーの奇跡』を読んだ時もその様子が何度も思い浮んだ。　 「この子は何を言っているのかな？」と考えさせられるような強い目を形にしたくてこの作品を制作した。

With a soft paw, a little tap and a “meow.” In my family, there's a playful, attention-seeking cat, and a clever but shy one. They’re usually carefree, but what really stands out are their eyes—full of intent—when they try to “say” something. This image kept coming to mind when I read Alfie the Doorstep Cat, which is told from the cat’s perspective. I wanted to bring to life the strong, expressive gaze that makes you wonder, “What is this cat trying to say?” That’s what inspired this piece.
