「2×2＝4」は理性と秩序を象徴するが、『地下室の手記』の語り手は、人が時に自由のためにその秩序を逸脱することもあると述べている。つまり、「2×2＝5」になる場合もあるのだ。 私自身は、人間という存在は理性とわがまま、さらには感性が絡み合って成り立つものだと考えるため、「2×2＝4.5」とも言えるのではないかと感じる。

Although "2 x 2 = 4" symbolizes reason and order. The narrator of the book states that people sometimes deviate from their order for the sake of freedom. It can be "2 x 2 = 5."
I believe that the existence of a human being is a combination of reason, selfishness, and even sensitivity. Therefore, I believe that we can say that "2 × 2 = 4.5".
