言葉に対する感受性が鈍化している現代で、金子みすゞの綴る言葉はより一層瑞々しく、慈愛とやさしさに満ちた言葉に感じられる。 今回の作品では、詩選集の中から「草原の夜」という一編の詩を選び、その文字を陶に刻むことで、読む行為とは違う方法で彼女の残した言葉と向き合えないかと考えた。 生きる時代は違えど今の私と歳の近い当時の彼女がみた世界と、どこかで繋がれたらいいなと思う。

In this day and age when our sensitivity to words has become dull, the words of Misuzu Kaneko seem even more fresh and full of compassion and tenderness. For this work, I chose a poem from the collection “Night on the Meadow” and thought that by engraving the words on ceramic, I could confront her words in a different way than by reading them. I hope to connect somewhere with the world as she saw it at that time, which is close to my age now, even though we live in different eras.
